Manifest Destiny and Ethnocentrism

Manifest Destiny and Ethnocentrism
Why can we say that there was cultural diversity in America even before the white people arrived?

There were different cultural diversities among the different tribes all over America. Different tribes had different diets depending where they lived. They spoke different languages, had different skin tones, different dress code, and habitats. They also had different beliefs about god as well.

Give two examples of how the Native Americans and Europeans experienced acculturation?

Indians and Europeans experienced acculturation by sharing food, firearms, fur, tools, and horses.

Describe how Native Americans and Europeans had different ways of looking at how the land should be used and shared.

Native Americans thought the land should be shared among all people. They believed there was no such thing as private property. The Europeans believed in all the legal documents and that they gave rights to own the land based on religious beliefs.

Explain why the idea of Manifest Destiny is an example of ethnocentrism.

Manifest Destiny is an example of ethnocentrism because it made Europeans believe that god wanted them to own all the land from coast to coast. They didn't care what other believed or wanted.

How do you believe American history would have been different if Phillip/ Pometacomet or Tecumseh had been successful in their plans?
